Tools I'm bringing to DSCF

Postby Cecil » Mon Dec 30, 2013 1:03 pm

I'll have my carb tools, jigs for removing broken head bolts, and if anyone is interested I can bring my valve reseating tools.

Letting all know now because we are leaving next Tuesday for warmer weather.

I have no tractors to pick up this year. I'm being real careful not to get hurt.

I've got a question for Mr. E., I plan to attend the 2014 DSCF and hope to learn a few things, such as, adjusting the governor linkage, observe/assist with the adjustment of intake/ exhaust valves. I also want to observe/assist with hooking up a 193 plow and the field adjustments. Since this will be my first time at a Cub Fest, will there be members attending with items for sale? For instance, will Barnyard bring cub steps for sale? Will attendees offer implements for sale? Oh, by the way, the wife wants to know what the wives do at a cub fest?

Papa,
The things you wish to learn should be no problem. If someone is not already doing those tasks, they will be glad to show you in person how it is done. Expect to get grease under your finger nails.

On the 193 plow question, Mr. Bill Hudson has done a plow session several times. I bet if we lean on him a bit (and maybe hand him a sausage wrap treat) he will agree to do another one. Right, Bill?

One of my co-host, Tim Ezell usually brings his cub and plow. You can take a few laps in the field with Bill's guidance and enjoy watching the dirt roll over. Always a thrill for us farmer wannabes,

And, yes, there are usually several folks with items for sale.

As to what the ladies do at the Fest. Below is a short list of things I have observed.
-sample Mike's black pot goodies to be sure it is seasoned correctly
-make quilt squares
-various needle work projects
-discuss how proud they are of us for stayin outta trouble
-a few of the ladies may go yard sale shopping or antique ing . I should say there is nothing really close for this.
-probably numerous other things I am not aware went on at the time.

Looking forward to seeing you in February.

*** Edit ***
Forgot to add that Barnyard does bring his specialty items for sale, as well.

I plan to bring a Cub that needs a good work out. I mowed with it at the Rocky Mountain CubFest and will now take the mower off and put a plow on. If anybody wants some seat time in Florida, I will have a full tank of gas in it and they can plow away. :D

Thanks to you Mr E and Barnyard for your responses. Getting a little grease under my finger nails won't be a problem. In addition to buying one of Barnyard's steps, I hope to find some implement mounting bolts and perhaps a couple of brake/clutch return springs. Thanks, Papa

Papa, Contact TM Tractor Parts (a sponsor of this site) for your bolts and springs. They are located in Florida. Last year Tom and Lynn were at DSCF, so if they come again they could bring them along.
