Farmall Cub 54 Leveling and Grader Blade, High Crop Version?

Postby jlmason81 » Fri Dec 13, 2013 7:38 pm

I purchased this 1948 Farmall Cub High Crop with the 54 Blade already mounted on the tractor. The blade has a bracket on the front that looks like it was professionally manufactured for the blade. Did they make a special bracket for the High Crop Cub? My thoughts are no but wanted to see if anyone could help shed some light on the subject. Thank you.

If it were a high crop, it would be higher off the ground, and the bracket would have needed to go the other way. I think the bracket that mounts to the lower bolster is longer. What does that look like ? Is it factory looking or does it look like homemade like the bracket on the front?

Just thinking, maybe that bracket was made to keep the blade from going too deep plowing. Other clues, no shoes and blade mounted wrong in tilt holes.

The bracket doesn't seem very sensible to me. It only lifts it about an inch? higher than what it would normally lift

Boss,

Everything else matches up to my original IH 54A Blade. I suppose that the piece could be flipped upside down and allow the blade to go lower. I just left it how it was when the Cub was delivered. I assumed that it was not a IH part but it sure looks well built. The hole in the lift arm even looks proper.

On my Hicrop with the 54 plow has a regular bracket connected to the bottom hole. Will be plowing today with it.

Might want to move blade back to center holes unless you need side to side tilt on blade, not fore/aft tilt.
