Name that Part!

I found these at a IH Dealer a while back but have no idea what tractor they are for much less was purpose they serve. My assumption was that they mounted to the rear wheel and drove some sort of planter. Does anyone have a clue?

Dad had a set of side dressers on an M that was run by sprockets that looked similar but were a slightly different shape. Someone will probably be able to tell by the part number. Vern

This looks more logical to me since the centers would not fit a tractor axle. Vern

Same here, except end gate seeder on a wagon.

They appear to be two different sizes which would be used to change the speed the end gate seeder operated. Or changed to accommodate different rim diameters.

If you tell us what the part number is, I could try looking it up.

Not only are the sprockets different sizes, but so is the spacing for the studs, which makes me think they are for different sized wheels.

Jim - The Part# is 320880.

John - They are both the same size, I just had one flipped upside down and when taking the close up picture it made the one on the right seem larger. Here is a better picture for comparison.

Thank you all for the help. If we can find out what they go to, I may be able to find the rest of the items needed to make them of use.

I tried that number every way I could and came up with nothing. If it is an IH number, it was obsoleted a long time ago. I wonder if it isn't IH. Is there an IH logo cast in anywhere? The center bolts appear to hit 4 bolts of a 6 bolt circle. If it is for an tractor, it about has to fit something with a 6-bolt wheel circle (like an F-20 or an A etc.). However, the fact it is split allows it to be assembled inside the wheel, suggesting an F-20 over the Farmall A. Some other companies (e.g. John Blue) made similar sprockets to fit IH tractors.

I have something similar mounted on the gauge wheels of a toolbar. It has a fert. attachment on it and had IH 185 planter units bolted to it. They're not as complex as those; they are for four-bolt rims, but I would bet they would fit a 6 bolt planter/cultivator gauge wheel to run a fertilizer attachment.

I have a John Blue Side Dresser that was mounted on a Farmall 140 with a similar style sprocket as that. It bolted to the outside center of the wheel using 4 of the lug bolts in the 6 bolt pattern. Those 4 bolts were longer to accommodate the sprocket too. Not for sure because I don't have a picture of it, but it could be the exactly the same or just be similar.
