It is much easier to do a grading that way. Ulness you are regrading a very small driveway spreading a very small pile of gravel, you will find it worthwhile to move it to the grader position for that job.

To take Jim's answer a little further, with the blade mounted in front; anytime you go over a bump with the front wheels the blade goes up (or into a dip/down), spin the rear wheels and dig down a little or go in a little valley and the blade comes up, go over a hump with the rear wheels and the blade digs in. With it in the belly mounted grader position those ups and downs are greatly reduced. Think of a fulcrum and lever, only in reverse, you're moving the weight (Cub) up and down and positioning the handle (blade). With the blade midmounted, it's like putting the handle between the fulcrum and the weight, it isn't going to move a whole lot.

Think I'm going to try that out when summer rolls around. Regrading my driveway for a finer, no dips or hills result would be worth a try. Those dips, now that it is winter, show up (we all know this) as ice skating rinks. Getting them out of the picture would be good.

The easy answer is you will get a far more level surface in the middle of 4 tires than you will on the front or the back.

Does one remove the ware "brackets" on the bottom to grade the drive way?
