It depends what year your Cub is. The mid fifties went to stainless.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

I'm not aware of any that were ever painted on, but the early models had decals and in 1955 the emblems went to stainless, then in 1958 they went to aluminum rectangular emblems with an oval "Cub" aluminum emblem. Then around 1963/64, they went back to decals all the way up until 1979. The pictures on the ATIS site Jim provided are a little hard to see, so try doing a Google Image Search on a particular model (ie. 1949, Farmall Cub, 1956 Farmall Cub, 1961 Farmall Cub, 1972 Farmall Cub, 1977 Farmall Cub).

Yours is a 1961. It should look similar to this.

The serial number on a Cub never exceeded six digits. As stated, your Cub is a 1961 based on the number you gave.

That stainless is very desireable! Someone would be glad to trade you out of it! IIRC it was on 55-58 Cubs. your bolster or hood could have been changed at some time. Get some casting numbers from other parts of the tractor, engine serial too and let's see what they say. Cast numbers = two sets of numbers and a letter. Example: 8•31•B. Engine serial behind carb on block.
