Deer Hunting In PA
Well, I just returned from my last annual Pennsylvania deer hunting trip. My hunting partner is just in too poor of shape to make the trip anymore. It was a struggle this past week. He is 77 years old and has every health issue you can think of. I've been invited back but it would feel funny without Gene.
Anyway, we had a great week of hunting and fellowship with good friends. I saw some deer, 1 guy in camp saw a bear but no one took a shot at any deer. I had several opportunities. The first day I passed up a decent 6 point and on Thursday I passed up a little 6 point and a young 9 point within 3 minutes of each other and about 5 yards from my treestand. I probably should have shot the 9 pt but it was a young deer. Next year he'll be a good one for someone else to try for.
I did however bag a deer or should I say Deere. It was the last thing I expected to do on this trip but one of my PA hunting buddies, Kenny, offered it to me for a decent price and I had to jump on it. Now, how to get it home.......
The tractor is a 1964 John Deere 110 in completely original condition. The 110 was originally purchased by Kenny’s grandfather for Kenny’s father when he was building his house. Kind of a house warming gift. Kenny remembers mowing a lot of grass with the little tractor. Many years have passed and Kenny’s dad has long since passed away. His mom called him and offered the tractor to him but now, many years later he is trying to clean out his garage and he doesn't have room for it and doesn't need it. He wanted it to go to a good home and he found it.
Won't find an original in this kind of condition every day....
Yes, even the tires are original. It came with the AG tires from the dealer.

Ricky,
Congratulations on bagging a good looking Deere! I am pretty fond of the old IH narrow frame garden tractors but wouldn't hesitate to jump on something like that, I love the look and the round fenders!
Glad it went to a good home,

Hey, we all stray a little at some time in our life. I've been mowing with this one for the last 22 years. It's semi-retired now that I bought a newer green one this past spring. You'd be surprised how many of us on this forum "mow the green with the green".
Ricky, that is a GREAT looking outfit, especially one of that vintage. You don't run across those in that condition very often. I'm jealous

Green is ok, for mowing grass. Blends in, with the grass and dandelions, so it isn't too conspicuous! I use one, if no one is looking!

I snatched it out of your backyard. Of course it's still sitting in PA and probably will until July.

All my mowers are red or yellow unless they are Lawn Boys or the local legend, Eddleman Cycle and Machine mowers.

Great story Ricky. Too bad about your friend. Sounds like you have some great deer hunting memories.
And nice deere that you bagged. Did you tie it to the trunk of your car on the way home?

Yep, Gene and I have hunted together since 1975 and it has always been an adventure each time we are together. The guys in PA are great and have become good friends. I may go back from time to time but it will be a couple of years before that happens. I am trying to put together a bear hunt for next year with some guys from my church and since changing jobs 2 years ago my vacation time is limited. The bear hunt will just be a DIY hunt in Michigan’s UP. If I would happen to bag another tractor on that hunt, my wife may end my hunting trips all together....
