Ridge Reamer for Cub engine?

I may be looking at an overhaul, and I want to start thinking about tools. Looking online, the popular Lisle ridge reamer has a minimum cylinder size of 2 - 11/16, a tad too big for a Cub. Another popular brand seems to have a minimum cylinder size of 3." Can anyone recommend a ridge reamer than will get down to the 2 - 5/8" Cub bore? Oh, and hopefully won't cost too much !

There is one on Ebay for $25-. Also searched the web and found some in the $80- price range.

Check with your local small engine shops. Probably can put the engine in the pickup bed and have them ream the ridges for around the cost of the Ebay price.

Might put a request in the for sale/wanted section and get a loaner.

I saw the $25 one on eBay. Looks like it just barely would work in terms of size. It is used, so its condition is unclear. Do ridge reamers wear out?

In terms of your other suggestion, alas I don't own a pickup truck, or a shop hoist crane, or know any small engine shops around here (western Massachusetts). So I was figuring I was limited to repairs I can do with the engine in place.

Typically they have a carbide cutter (3 each). They can be sharpened if worn. Usually they are not worn out.

Every thing depends. You may or may not need a ridge reamer. I would remove the head and check for a ridge.

You can do a in tractor overhaul. However, much easier with the engine on the bench or engine stand. And then, if you are planning on replacing the front and rear main seals or working on the clutch - pull the engine.

I use a Lisle. Even though the specs say that they are too big, they fit. I replace the rubber O ring type band, with a flat band, cut from a bicycle inner tube.Has a carbide cutter, that actually cuts.
Don't waste your money, on the Zim. Poorly constructed, and has a steel cutter. They claim to make a carbide cutter, but they are not available, in the real world.

I bought an old lightly used if at all "SUPER RANGE Cylinder Ridge Reamer" on ebay for $6.99 shipping included. There's a couple listed now but not that good of a deal.

It says it goes from 2-19/32 to 4-3/16. I haven't tried it yet but it should just slip into the Cub's 2-5/8 (or 2-20/32 ) bore.

Even if it doesn't work I have other engines that it would work on and it's a neat old tool that was less than $7
