I am new to this site.
I have a Cub Lo-Boy 154, I have owned it for over 40 years, it was one of my first mowers I ever rode, I was 12 years old when I first sat in it's seat.
It is a family treasure.
My problem is the battery is fully charged, but when I turn the ignition key the red oil light does not light.
I tried to check the fuse, but I can not get it out; it pushes in as if there is a spring in there but I can not pull it out.
Don't know what to do! Any help would be much appreciated.

Guy, Welcome to the Forum. I don't know much about 154's, but found this page in the Owner's Manual that might help. In the right hand column, go about half way down the page:

Thank you Bob. Is this the owner's manual for a Cub Lo-Boy 154? If so, can you give me the link for it? I looked under manuals but didn't find anything that looked right.

Here you are: http://www.cleancomputes.com/Cub/Number ... index.html
If you click on the "manuals" link in the tool bar to the right, you can find it there under numbered Cubs.

Dig the fuse out with a small pair of needle nose pliers. Most likely, the spring in the bottom of the fuseholder is rusted and toast. You could just remove and replace the fuseholder.
The circuit is quite simple. You may want to check the oil pressure switch and flasher. It's attached to the oil filter housing behind the side panel. Sometimes the connector can be loose or off.

Re: Help! Electrical problem on my 154
Thank you Bob and outdoors4ever,
Is there a trouble shooting resource for the 154. My battery (only 6 months old) is good and fully charged. When I turn the key half way the red oil light lights- but when I turn it further for ignition the red oil light goes out and the starter makes no noise or movement... then when I turn the key counter clockwise to the pre ignition position, the red oil light does not come on. I have a float charger on it, and if I come back in 6 hours, the same scenario repeats itself.
Thank you again for any help you can offer.
God Bless.

I forgot to add... the head lights do not come on either. It was running fine the day before.

Re: Help! Electrical problem on my 154
The fuse only controls the headlights, it does not control the ignition nor the oil light.
Sounds like you have a bad switch.

Re: Help! Electrical problem on my 154
Before we rip things apart. There is a clutch safety switch and on late model 154's a PTO safety switch within the start circuit. An open in one of the switches will keep the engine from cranking over and not light the oil pressure indicator in the switch start position.
Could also be the ignition switch, but check the above mentioned switch or switches first. The bad news is that most of the electrical system is located under the dash.

Re: Help! Electrical problem on my 154
I am looking at this 154 manual and on page 27 under ground strap (which I assume is the ground cable) it says "When replacing the battery, make certain that the ground strap is connected to the negative terminal on the battery". Well, I thought this tractor had a positive ground electrical set up, because when I replaced the old battery, the positive (red) cable was on the negative pole of the battery and the negative (black) cable was on the positive pole of the battery. It ran for over two years as a positive ground set up. Did I ruin something?
