Just wondering how many 982 red Cadets were built in total?

Re: How many 982's?
One chart I found has serial number range of 724,525 - 737,624 (13, 099 units) built. Chart here: http://www.cubcadetcollectors.com/manua ... emId=10052
You might do a Google search like: "Cub Cadet serial number production" or similar to hit some sites that may have what you're looking for.

Re: How many 982's?
That serial number range includes ALL of the 82 series tractors built in that time frame, not just the 982, and includes the yellow and white versions. The IH built 982's were built from about July of 1980 to April 1981. (the last IH built 982 was serial number 688712). When Cub Cadet Corp bought the Cub Cadet line from IH in June 1981, they continued to build the "red" 82 series models for sale by IH dealers until 1985 along with the yellow and white versions sold by the Lawn Prower Equipment/Cub Cadet dealers. Cub Cadet Corp production did not get started until late 1981, and the serial number range started with serial number 700,000. You can fine the IH model production records in the McCormick Collection of the Wisconsin Historical Society web site, but it will not give any production records of the Cub Cadet Corp built tractors, 982's or others.
