where can i find ( online ) information about the different hand lifts and their use with different implements. tractor came with front and rear cultivators, a disc plow with two discs that mounts under tractor and a pull behind bushhog. it has three handlifts on the left side and one on the right and i have all the correct parts for all implements. i can find info on super A's but almost nothing about the A model. would add photos but cant get them to work.

fodman, the photo part is easy... You need to upload the photos to a photo hosting site on the Internet somewhere, such as the photos.cubfest.com site. Then link them back here.

As for the hand lifts and implements for the A, there isn't much out there. They're extremely rare to begin with, let alone to find one complete like that, let alone to find MULTIPLE implements complete like that. Usually the only thing that's left is the tractor, and maybe some large piece of implement that couldn't be repurposed for something else. Most of the small parts got lost or re-used to patch up some other more modern implement to get the job done.

What I do know is that each implement has its own hand lift. IH didn't come up with the universal lift idea until the Cub and Super A.

yeah, theres something fishy about her buying it . i knew the man that owned it, he was in his 90's and still worked it till his death last year. took me all day to find what his son did to it to keep him off it in his last few months. while trying to start it i found the points adjusted to where they would not open, fixed that. wouldnt start, found that the coil wire boot had been removed and about an inch of the copper wire cut out and boot replaced, fixed that. wouldnt start, checked fireing order and the wires were all mixed up, fixed that. it then started as soon as it turned over. he had engine rebuilt three years ago at local dealer so i know i should get alot of use from it. the old man loved that tractor more than his kids i think.

Glad you got it running. So you really think the owner sabotaged his own tractor to keep his kids off it? How old are his "kids"?

Anyway, sure you'll get some use out of it.

no his kids sabotaged it so he could not use it. he got to where he could not climb on it without falling off . i have found its best just to get on from the back over the seat. it is a duel fuel with a zenith carb, a first for me. it has a heavy castiron wheel on the right side i guess to offset the engine being on the left side. edit ,,, kids to him they are 50-60 yr's old

Heavy cast wheel on the right-hand side is correct for an A.

Very early A had light wheels on both sides.
