Some Assembly Required!

Postby Barnyard » Wed Oct 02, 2013 2:06 pm

I was scanning through Craigslist this past rainy Sunday and an ad caught my eye. A thirty-five minute drive across the river (Ralph's territory) resulted in this headed for BOB. Actually it will go in the shop as a winter project. The seller did a lot of the work for me. He had cleaned and primed all the sheet metal and small parts so a little touch up and some paint and they are done. The engine/trans assembly won't be too bad to work with.

Now the question, does it run? Well, it was one of those typical answers, the seller said it did when he started on it. I reckon he would not have put so much effort and money into it if it didn't run. The tires (Bridgestone rears) were bought new several years ago and have never been on the tractor. The seller had them loaded with calcium when the dealer mounted them so I think that will be out before I unload them from the trailer.

Bill, Haul it down to Stanton. He'll have it back together two days after he gets it. Hope you got a box of bolts with it.

I didn't know you could buy a Cub in kit form!!

That would make a great Cubfest project, you know a build it in a weekend. On Friday it's a box of parts, Sunday it's a running tractor!!!!!

Yeah, that would be pretty cool. If not at a Cubfest maybe a RPRU. It would certainly draw some attention at a RPRU. With some pictures and a story it would be an interesting article for a magazine like Red Power or Antique Power Magazine.

If I keep working on things the way I have, it'll be a box of parts on Friday and will still be a box of parts when Melissa has the auction to settle my estate.
