I use sand and dump the used stuff down the woodchuck holes. Doesn't drive them away but irritates the daylights out of them and amuses me.

I use glass bead and have been slowly filling in some holes in the driveway with it.

Reminds me of the old PPG (Pittsburgh Plate Glass) factory near Festus, Mo. Only place I ever saw that paved their roads with broken glass.

We have a road nearby (Michigan M-57) where the DOT paved 1 mile stretches of the road with different materials to see how durable they were. One section was a recycled glass. After 25 years, none of the experiments had any potholes (not even at the seams). Obviously any of these materials used would have been superior to plain asphalt.
Last year the DOT tore up the test road and replaced with plain asphalt. Already has potholes.

Must have cost 1 cent more per mile to install and saved millons in maintenance.
