French Cub in England

Postby AndyMac » Mon Aug 19, 2013 4:16 pm

Here's my 1958 Super Cub getting its wheels dirty at 'Tracks Across the Fields' near Petersfield, Hampshire, UK last weekend.
A rare sight within these shores - so created quite a bit of interest.

Looks good, Andy. I think you need some hay to cut. :)

As requested by Mr E here is the other side of the Super Cub - this time pictured in a big tractor show two weeks ago at Scone Palace, Perth, Scotland.

She was awarded a rosette and shield for 'best working vintage tractor' out of some 300 entries of all makes and sizes.

The Cub is completely original apart from conversion from 6 v to 12 v electrics. The engine ticks like a Swiss watch and the side sickle works like a sewing machine.

In the lineup is a gold colored 1953 Farmall Super BMD built in UK to celebrate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. The owner tells me operators suffered headaches with reflection from the bright paint and some farmers resprayed the tractors red.

I wish that was my tractor. Don't see many over here that have the "stick" on the grassboard.

One of the finest examples of an original Cub that I've seen. Beautiful tractor 8)

Thanks for the appreciative comments.

She spent all her life on a smallholding in the foothills of the French Alps under one owner and has done very little - a lucky find!

I have the original papers to include working manuals (in French of course) for the tractor, plow and sickle.

The front tires are probably original. The rear Kleber tires might also be but I'm prepared to be corrected on that score.
