Leak on left fginal drive.
Hi guys, What is the best way to repair the two left lower implment holes that are leaking oil[ gear oil]. When I removed the mule drive to find where it was seeping I struck oil. Apperantly the po had busted the inner wall of the casting with too long bolts. I'll be pulling the pan to see what it looks like but don't have much hope of a repair. Anyone have any ideas, open to suggestions . Thanks for any replies. WLM Cub......

I'd consider pulling the final drive, degreasing it totally, seeing if it's cracked - if not plug the bottom of the holes with JB Weld.

PVF has about a good idea as I have heard unless you want to take the final to a welding shop to get it repaired.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

Re: Leak on left fginal drive.
My thought, drop pan, inspect. If threads still in good condition. Apply non hardening gasket cement to bolts.
The bolt holes are slightly lower than the final filler hole and way above the necessary fluid level.

I have an excuse. CRS.

I have a final that has one hole damaged the same way,What I plan on doing is drilling and tapping to 7/8 inch,Then threading 7/8 bolt with J B weld on threads let it set overnight and drill and tap to 5/8 by 11 and to proper depth don't know if this will work? May be worth a try.

Let sleeping dogs lie. If I had one with good original 5/8 threads and the only problem was the inner end popped off, I would do as Eugene suggests. Just be sure to clean any broken bits out of the pan.

One option may be to thread in a 5/8" allen head set-screw style bolt, JB-weld the threads on the inside, and let it be. Then you should have enough threads on the implement side that you can still run in a bolt, it may just be a little shallower. You may have to grind it down a bit before installing, but I think this would be a good fix.

Those are very good suggestions.
I am not sure if I would even consider a shorter thread length for the implements bolts to engage in. I have too many finals with boogered threads to even contemplate that.
