My next door neighbor is looking at a Economy Power King tractor with a front end loader and backhoe attachments.
It seems to run good, doesn't smoke and all the hydraulics work. We dug a hole with it and although it has it's limits, everything seems to work good. The owner is asking $2500 but I think he will come down a bit. What is your feeling on this tractor? Experience with Economy tractors?
He needs to do some trenching to run water lines for some spigots that he wants to add to his property. We discussed it and figured that if he bought it, he could avoid paying someone to do the trenching or renting a trencher. When he is done he can sell it and recoup most if not all of his investment (but he is a guy and will probably keep it ).
What are your thoughts on this?

Backhoe and loader for $2500-. Sounds like a deal to me.
I buy tools and equipment when the rental cost for one or several jobs pays for the entire item. Then I keep the item. Any use beyond the initial work or tasks is money saved.

I have an excuse. CRS.

Like Eugene said .. good idea. Will pay for itself doing the irrigation project. Then he will have a rather useful little tractor to play with. Seems like a good solution for a specific problem.

Looks like a good deal to me, in this area the tractor alone would sell for $1100 to 1500, more if attachments included.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

Re: Economy Power King w/loader and backhoe attachment
Thanks for the input guys. Well, my neighbor Brett bought it and the owner delivered it to him. If Brett, can't think of enough chores for it, I will!!
The guy also has a Massey Harris Pony and it looks like I'm going to end up with that. We need to finalize things but I think I'm going for it. I'm trying to keep up with the neighbors but with a loader and backhoe he's kicking my butt!!
The guy selling the tractors has several he's getting rid of. His father was a collector and has passed away. He's got a nice F Cub with new rubber all the way around that would probably make someone a nice tractor, but I can't afford it. I can only afford to buy delinquent Cubs that need some love. This Pony needs some love. I just have to dig it out from under all the bat droppings.

That lil rig will do lotsa work.......BUT................ don't stick it in the ground till you call your local utility locator service, to mark all your services in the work area. Belive me a forgotten phone elec. or gas line will cost u much more than any savings you had.
