Cub in Big Tractor country. Mowing the Fort

Postby Buzzard Wing » Thu Aug 08, 2013 8:26 am

Can't let the big tractors of the Midwest cast too big a shadow over the mighty Cub Lo Boy. Heck the can't even get up the earth topped ramps, much less mow them!

I mentioned it once or twice, but as a "Holdover" awaiting orders in Fort Dix NJ way back in 1965, I was attached to the Post Engineers for 2 weeks and mowed ammo bunkers, ( which were disguised as giant grass mounds very very high) with a Cub...The Fords were not able to maneuver where the cub had to go....Only thing was I lost all the races back to the engineer battalion at the end of the day.... Dave

That Cub is going under the knife soon for a new clutch and main seal. I mowed over there Tuesday, it is very different kind of place to mow, 25' drops and 'chimneys' from the lower level... And the occasional stump.

Yep it's a fast hitch Mott flail mower. My hands-down favorite. You can't scalp and it's better around rocks. Also, no windrows into the tire tracks.

Yep too on the speed... but the long stripe is a speed demon for a Cub.
