Super C hood height

Postby HitNmiss1923 » Tue Jul 23, 2013 5:32 pm

Good afternoon, Been around a few Super C Farmalls and can't help but wonder why mine is so much taller. It's 58 inches from the garage floor to the top of the hood/gas tank/radiator. Tractor has standard size Super C tires front and rear and sits level.. Does anyone know what the Super C's factory height was at the hood and did they make a "high crop" model. Can't find any info on that... Thank you..

I just ran to the barn to measure the height of my SC. I have it parked on gravel and just eyeballed the tape but it looks to be between 55-56 inches. Hope that helps.

Tractor has standard size Super C tires front and rear...

What size tires does the tractor actually have? Are they new or well worn?

Thanks Vince & Dan. Vince, I appreciate your running out to the barn and checking that. I have seen a number of Super C's much lower ( right around 4 foot) and can't figure that out. The tires are original on the front and high side rear. Furrow side rear newer but not by much.. 10 X 36 and 5.00 x 15..

You sure it was a SC that was 4 ft? Maybe it had the wrong size tires on it?

That's what has been confusing me Thomas. These machines have Super C in the hood emblem and SC disc brakes, right size tires but they're shorties ?? This is what lead me to think there may have been two types such as regular & High crop..

The only thing from the IH factory that was shorter would be a regular C. But only by about 2". No disk brakes, either.

I don't know what you could be looking at but it is definitely not a factory Super C. Anybody can put stickers on anything, though.

There isn't 10" to lower the hood on a Super C, so the only way to get it that low with standard wheels and tires is with some sort of custom drop boxes and custom wide front end.

Pictures would certainly shed some light on the situation.

He says it had disk brakes, and the "correct" tires for a Super C, though.

A B does not have visible brakes, they're internal like a Cub.

A B also has 24" tires, and it's very obvious that they're not correct for a Super C.

Also, the hood on a B is not 4' high. It's actually about the same as a regular C, closer to 4-1/2'.
