This tractor's serial number (FAA 126911 on the seat support, FAAM 126911 on the crankcase) dates its manufacture to 1945. I have searched the entire tractor diligently, but there is not a single casting date code on it anywhere - crankcase, torque tube, transmission, final drives, etc. Is this 'normal' for a Farmall produced at the end of WWII? It came to me equipped with an American Bosch magneto (marked "AMERICAN BOSCH CORP. / SPRINGFIELD, MASS. U.S.A.", but the place where the model and type are typically stamped is blank on both sides of the magneto and doesn't appear to have ever been marked), which I have finally determined to be an MRD-4A302. I know the standard for this model tractor was International Harvester's own H-4, but did the factory also equip them with the American Bosch?
Thanks
Jim

JR, I too have a A like yours don't know much about it but I need a picture of your lift lever and rear hook up of the cultivator as mine is in pieces and I am not sure if it is all there, if you could I sure would appreciate it. Thanks in advance. Jim

Re: 1945 Farmall A, two questions
As soon as the weather clears (thunderstorms in the area today) I will get some photos of my lift. Meanwhile, here are some pages from a McCormick Deering manual (MCD 5011, 12-13-1940) for the cultivator lift that I hope you might find helpful:

Re: 1945 Farmall A, two questions
I actually have a hand lift for the woods mower that I dont use, I attach my mower to my hydraulics, Ill take a pic of it when I get home and post it.
Tractors are like watermelons: the RED is good and you throw away the GREEN.
