4th of July.....Almost here! More Pics Added!

Postby CPIII » Tue Jul 02, 2013 3:35 pm

I am starting this post to see all the other 4th of July Cubs.

I am getting the Captain ready for the 4th of July parade in my hometown of Shiner Texas (pop 2069 - 1 full fledged traffic light...and I mean all three colors!.....just put that up a few years back was a flashing red light when I lived there). When I first found the captain back in 2008 riding it in the parade was my goal. I can't believe it has almost come to fruition......thanks largely to you guys and all of you help and great cub ideas. It's hard to believe it has been over 4 years ago since this journey started. The journey was most rewarding as I made new friends and kept this wonderful machine from finding it's way to the junkyard\smelter. I am wondering how many others are in the same panic mode as I trying to make sure my tractor is ready for the parade and also wondering if you have the same nightmarish images of your cub Conking out in front of the grand stand and having to be pulled off by (Yes it gets worse) a green tractor. :big what: I replaced the rear final last night so that I made sure I had good brakes and the old final was making a LOT of noise...when i got it off I could move the spline shaft in a 5-6 inch circle..... got it just in time I guess. I am also sandblasting and painting the rims and mounting the new tires I bought a while back. I will have pictures to post early next week.

Thanks again for all the help over the last 4-5 years ......it has been a blast!!

I usually don't put mine in parades but I have pulled a float for my church in a local event we call the Balloon Affair here in Ravenna, these pics are from 2011. ... and I did get two small flags that normally go on a car window, I haven't figured out quite how to hang them on the Cub. I'll probably make some kind of brackets for them.

The ladies from church thought this was a great idea. I was a little embarrassed. This flag is a different one from what I mentioned before.

They hung their "balloons" on my canopy from a piece of cloth draped over the top.

Our entry won a couple trophy's and a plaque! ...but not necessarily for my Cub.

Not quite 4th of July but still very cool....thanks for sharing! I was planning on adding an umbrella to my cub but ran out of time. It is supposed to be 102 at parade time tomorrow....will have plenty of ice cold bottled water with me that's for sure.

...and don't worry, I'm sure your Cub will perform perfectly.

Well I made it through the whole parade without incident.......and I actually won 2nd place in the tractor division. It was a great time and i can't wait till next year! There were several tractors in including a 49 cub and a demonstrator that were part of a 6 tractor entry that took first place. Thank goodness there were judged as a single entry or else I don't think I would have won anything as the 49 and the demonstrator were perfectly restored. I will post pictures of those later this week.

A 4 year journey collage...start to finish.

Thanks a lot for letting us share your parade, family, and cub. It pretty well personifies America and Cubbers.
