hi guys, I thought I would share a couple photos with ya. I had the cub doing a little work over the weekend, we had a load of logs dropped off, so we started getting ready for the up and coming season. cutting and splitting and stacking.
the wood shed is 10x16
the trailer is homemade, the axel is from a 1950s boat trailer, it serves its purpose

Hi Jack!
Great action shots right there. You look like you have your work cut out for you with that pile! I love your tractor, and my '55 will eventually look like that someday!!
We should get together for a western PA minifest sometime in the near future! I love talking tractors and talking with tractor-folk!!

Rudi it was a duel axel truck load, I'm guessing to be around 8 cords of wood. the logs are a bit large, larger than I would of liked to of got. and trust me, I am getting a work out trying to move them to get cut, and split. I have to give it to my wife she is right out there working along side of me, what a woman. the logs are - oak, cherry, birch and maple. I'm not to crazy about the birch it will burn to fast. but I got it now I have to use it.
I like the fenders also, you dont see them much anymore

Re: wood pile
Sure brings back memories....My back doesn't allow that now a days....(2 operations and they want to do a 3rd)....Its a pellet stove and 3/4 months in Florida now-a-days....But I certainly bucked up my share back when...Started as a kid in a 3 room house...Yikes

Jack:
8 cords is a fair amount of work especially with butts that size. Gonna give you a workout for sure. It is amazing what our spouses will do to help us out. Em has always cut wood with me, piled it and moved it as well. My kids also have helped for year. Sabrina still comes home from St. John dragging her brother with her so they can help me. Gonna be interesting this year with my oxygen tanks
Another one burning prime furniture species Cherry, Oak, Maple and Birch ..... Logs that size would yield a lot of figured wood for my shop ...
I know, I know, I know --there is lots of it down there and the gnarly rangy stuff is used for firewood. I get it.... I understand it... but my inner toy maker/furniture maker heart cries ..
I burn a lot of rangy, gnarly maple up here along with birch, tiny red oak when I can get it (I don't have any on my property) and of course a mix of popple, spruce, fir, pine and other assorted species. A mix is best for us up here. Hot fire in the morning followed by cooler fires for daytime (except when it is -25 and below then they are hot all day long)... a hot fire in the evening and a cooler fire with big pieces of hardwood for overnight. Last winter I didn't even have to get up in the middle of the night to make fire, the birch that I used with the maple at night was sufficient. Not sure what kind of birch you have but I burn a mix of gray birch, wire birch, white birch, yellow birch and of course paper birch.
I really like the fenders. Wondering what they were off of. Nicely styled and fit period wise with the Cub

Re: wood pile
the birch is gray birch. and the oak is red oak, none of these logs are good for furniture
