Spindles need to turn such that they run onto the blade bolts/nuts. Blade needs to be sharp on the leading side. Hope this is not confusing. Works this way on every mower I have had experience with (RM600,59).

Now I know the blades are spinning clockwise as you look down and the bolts tighten the same way.

Do I need different blades and route the belt the opposite way so the blades spin the other direction?

Yes. My deck spins clockwise also and my bolts tighten counter clockwise with right hand threaded bolts. And they get tighter with use! Are your blades upside down by any chance? And the belt on without the 3/4 twist? The blades are bent down from the center about 1/2" below the center bolt level. Are yours? And the sharp edge on the blade is to the bottom of the blade surface so the cut grass gets forced up in the cutting action.

This is a confusing thread. A right hand thread tightens in the clockwise direction. If your threads are good then the only way I can think of to keep bolts from loosening is to change direction of rotation. Doesn't matter if the blade is upside down as far as the bolt is concerned.

OK - currently your blades spin clockwise as looking from above. It still sounds to me like you have LH threads on your spindle. So - I believe your deck is set up as a LH discharge deck as are your blades. All you need to do is reverse the belt drive to accommodate your deck. Is that even possible? Where and how would you cross the belt to reverse the rotation, between the deck and the mule drive? I can visualize it but I'm not sure the belt wouldn't rub against itself.

No, he's going to need different blades too...

If he reverses the direction of rotation, the current blades will be spinning in the wrong direction. They won't spin the bolts out but they also won't cut anything either... UNLESS they are installed upside-down now.

I think some pictures of your mower deck might be helpful. A couple from each side of the mower deck above showing the belt lay out and discharge, and one from the bottom showing the blade setup would help. If you do not have a way to post them on line you can send them to me ejpuckett@centurytel.net and I will post them for you. This link will take you to manuals for the woods mowers used on cubs. One note, if your mower uses 3 belts rather than one it is probably a C3 (Ih or Danco) not a Woods. http://www.farmallcub.com/[ Sorry, direct links to manual section is not allowed. ]/index.p ... rs&order=0
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

Boy, this is turning into the misinformation thread. The Cub PTO spins correctly, it's just the rest of the world that spins backwards. :D

It sounds like you have a left hand deck, left handed bolts, and a right handed belt and blades. You need to switch to all left or all right. You may be able to cross the belt to spin to the left and get left handed blades. I had a similar problem so I just drilled and helicoiled the spindles to right hand.

I will post pictures when I get a chance.
However I rattled the bolts tight with a pneumatic wrench and then haven't fallen off again......yet.

In your original post you describe a left handed thread but called it a right handed thread.... I don't know if there-in lies your problem or it was a freudian slip... But it sure is weird that your blades keep falling off....But first I would figure out what threads you have....And then the direction of the blades and see if they coincide....Dave
