Need your support

Postby Tubby Creek Farm » Mon Apr 08, 2013 1:52 pm

Hello Cub friends,

First off, Rosie our cub is running great! Josephine is out in disking with her right now.

Our farm business is really taking off. We have a 30 member CSA, we are looking forward to a great market season and we will be selling to some restaurants in Memphis this year. We will have a little over four acres of veggies this year.

I need your help winning a wheelchair accessible van. I'm in this contest and in order to be in the final round I need folks to vote for my story. If I'm in the top 5% of the votes, then judges will decide who wins. It only takes 30 to 45 seconds to vote. It is supper easy, but I'm asking if you could vote every day through May 10th.

An accessible van would really help our farm business grow.

Here is a pic of my wife and I after we finished building the greenhouse last winter.

The link to vote for me is below. Thanks. and Moderator forgive me for the shameless self promotion and if this needs to be moved to another forum then so be it. Thanks

Vote here, AND THANKS!

Randy:

I have moved it to the Off Topic and it has been made a sticky. I also left a shadow in the main forum for a few days. Best we can do. It will remain a sticky for about a week. Let's see what we can accomplish in this time frame.

However, I have voted, and I have put a link on my Facebook page.

I do not do this often ... in fact this is only the 3rd time I think. I do it for Veterans issues mostly. The reason I linked it is because I know personally how much this probably means to you. I have a daughter who hasn't walked in almost 3 years now and suffers from RSD/CRPS caused by treatment of a workplace injury. She is only 25. She has been languishing in a hospital bed for the majority of the past 16 months now, mostly because we cannot move her around easily and of course lack of suitable housing and she needs rehab. And we could not afford to pay $90.00 a shot for a round trip home by a handi service. Her twin sister has now been diagnosed with an advanced case of very aggressive RRMS and has been in a wheel chair for the last 3 months.

This necessitated us trying to find a modified van, one we can afford. On a Vet's Disability pension that is a hard one to do. But because a friend of ours - whose mother-in-law had to move to an Enhanced Care Facility (new name for a Nursing Home) they no longer needed the van. So her hubby sold it to me for a song -- almost literally. The tires he had just put on it were worth more ... yes, I had to do some maintenance to it, it is a '99 DGC after all and I did have to upgrade the restraints, but we now have one and the relief that has been generated knowing that we can actually take her out for a Sunday drive to pick up her spirits is immense.

This is one of the reasons why I have it linked. Because it has a personal connection. The fact that my twin brother's name is Randy has absolutely nothing to do with it ok :?: :?: :?:

I will try to remember to vote every day ... if that will help.
