Forum Running Slow

Postby twotone » Wed May 15, 2013 6:33 am

Is the forum running slow at times, or is it my computer? Sometimes when I click on a post, it takes forever to show up. Also, when I hit the back button, it takes forever to go back, It doesn't happen all the time, but at least once or twice a day.

I've noticed the same thing. I figured it was my internet connection.

I have the same problem at times. I suspect others have too. That is why you see a lot of double and triple posts. If a member doesn't see their post right away they click on the submit button again. Every time that button gets clicked it posts again.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

I have the same problem from time to time. And it seems to always happen when something is posted for sale. I get all excited to see what goodies I might want and the bleeping site crawls! Reckon I'm being told something? :-)

So I'm not crazy. It's really no big deal, just a good "patience" builder.

It is slow at times, I suspect it is from all the bots that scan for programs such as Google , Bing, etc. I know Dennis has had to limit them a time or two. To see who is on go to the main forum page and scroll to the bottom, it will show who is on at that time.

I have seen the same thing. When it happens, I will attempt to go to other sites in an effort to determine if it is my connection, or the forum.

My findings indicate that it is definitely the forum.

I have observed much the same thing ... different parts of the day, especially when the bots are active, the forum can be slower than molasses in January. It can be a bit disconcerting. There are other things to take into consideration though... how fast packets are going through nodes, what is the slowest/most congested node between the forum and your IP and of course when was the last time you ran the scans on your own computer just to name a few.

For the most part though, I have found as others have that it is the forum and I assume it is the bots. Maybe not specifically targeted to farmallcub.com but to the host more likely. Either way it is a little frustrating at times.

I have a 30 meg down and 3 meg up broadband connection with no throttles .. and it is difficult to understand at times even though I understand how packets of data travel through cyberspace. Expect it to get worse as the commercialization of the internet becomes more commonplace.
