Proud new cub owner!

Postby M87Henry » Thu May 09, 2013 4:15 pm

Hello, my name is Mikie. Im from Ohio. I just bought my first farmall cub yesterday. It belonged to a friend of mine and he intended to restore it for years but after he lost his son in a tragic car accident he lost his ambition to restore it. He knew that I was in love with the tractor and that it would rest better in my garage than it did in the high weeds beside his garage, and he knew that I would give it the care and attention that it deserves. I believe it's a 1948. It came with a plow and a blade. I'm not sure if the blade mounts under the belly or in front. But anyhow, it isn't running yet but the engine is free. I plan on completely tearing it apart and putting it back together in better than new condition! I know it's going to be a lot of work but hopefully I will have you all here to help me when I get in over my head!

Welcome aboard:
There is a wealth of knowledge here and also some of the finest people you will ever meet. Enjoy the Cub, but know that they can be addictive. I would suggest attending a Cub Fest if possible they are filled with fine folks who know what they are talking about when it comes to the Cub.

Mikie:

G'day to you and congrats :applause: on acquiring your 1st new to you Cub and one that you have known and loved for a while. From you post it is clear that your friends Cub is in good hands and will receive the TLC it deserves.

Suggest you read these - Cub Owner's Manuals, I don't have a '48 Manual on the server but the '47 or '49 will do. Cub-193 Moldboard Plow 11-20-49 and the Cub Grader Blade Manuals.

There are lots of resources available to our members so suggest you take a little time and follow the links below:

Mikie, you are about 3 1/2 hours from the Barnyard Bash CubFest near Cincinnati May 31 & June 1. You might want to reserve a motel room and spend the weekend with us. It's a great way to meet many of the forum members and learn a ton about Cubs. If you plan to tear down your Cub, this is a great place to learn a lot of the ins and outs of doing so.

There is more info about the Bash at http://www.barnyardbash.com.

Here is a link about some of this years projects viewtopic.php?f=8&t=78290

And here are some pix of an earlier Bash to give you an idea what goes on. http://photos.cubfest.com/thumbnails.php?album=1102
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

I would like to go to a cub fest but unfortunately the date is to far away for me to make plans. I work on pipelines and I'm usually working 12 hours a day 7 days a week through the summer months. But my dad is my boss so maybe if I sweet talk him a little bit he could give me the weekend off!!!
