Broken/fixed crank cover

Postby Pickerincal » Fri Apr 26, 2013 11:59 pm

I'm still restoring my 47 and as with a lot of things on this Cub there is a previous broken/fixed ear on the crank cover. It looks like a solid weld but its perty ugly. What do you guys think? Find a different one or grind a little of the slag off and pretty it up?
:)

I've seen a few posts on that piece being broken..usually because the fan assy being taken off wrong...alot of stress there, and if it does break..there goes your radiator..It is tough to get a strong weld on cast iron.. would try and find a new one as long as you already have it apart...just my opinion...
