cub ignition wires
hello, in may i will be going to pick up my great uncles 1948 cub. it has sat since 1999, consequently its engine has seized up but i think its only due to the humidity in southern mississippi, and there looked to be alot of carbon flakes in the cylinders . there was no water in the oil. it was in a shed with a makeshift rain cap (a u pipe) on the exhaust. anyways also during her slumber the rodents not only chewed the igition wires in half, but complete chucks were eaten away. i had purchased a new set last summer from napa but they aparently are the kind you cut to size. not only do i not know the the actual length of the wires i really dont want to destroy the new set i bought i was wondering if someone could help me out with those wires, possibly i could send them to someone to cut to size and label and include some money for return postage thanks alot

Re: cub ignition wires
Sounds like a perfect time to learn somethings about your cub....And you'll get all the expertise you need from the members....You can check your distributer cap for cracks etc, check your points for pitting, say hello to your condenser, check your rotor, establish your firing order, check your plugs, your coil, fix all thats necessary and measure your plug wires to the size you need and install them...Then you can stand back and say, Damm I done all that and it works...I'm not being a , but the best part of owning one of these tractors is the pride that comes from working on it and restoring it...If you run in to any problems, just post your problem...You'll get some great help and meet some great people...Maybe someone will volunteer to cut your wires for you, but at least think about what I said...Welcome to the forum and have a good time with your cub...

Load that Cub on a trailer and head to the Barnyard Bash May 31 & June 1 just west of Cincinnati. You are just under two hours away. Someone here will gladly help you install the wires as well as help you work toward correcting other problems you may have. It would also be a great opportunity for you to learn more about your Cub as well as meet many of the forum members who actively participate in this forum. Bring the wife and kids along. Many of the other wives attend each year and keep coming back for the fun.

There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Get a pair of pliers (cutters/strippers/crimpers) like these. Job is relatively straightforward if you have any mechanical skills at all.

Re: cub ignition wires
thanks for the information i wish i could bring it to the ohio cubfest this year but my truck is currently out of commission, my uncle is helping me get it up here. maybe next year. i just looked at the link that has the wire lengths. are the lengths measured including the boots or the connectors or is it just the wire length. i just cant wait to get this tractor and get her running again. i just hope the scrappers have not been prowling around

If you can't bring your tractor to the cubdest, at least bring yourself.
I included the connectors, as stated in slightly greater detail here.

Plus or minus the length of the ends won't make much difference in the overall length. There is enough slack in the routing to handle it.
