One Row Picker

Postby SONNY » Wed Apr 24, 2013 9:24 pm

Here are a couple pics of the JD #18 -1row corn pickers that we finally got home!---It was a 300 mile road trip across 4 states and into Ky. to get them!

Now maybe we wont have to pick chicken corn by hand this year!---have to loosen up a few parts on the good one and the other one came along for a parts machine! thanks; sonny

Nice. I missed out on a nice New Idea corn picker at auction earlier. Too rich for my blood going for over $1500.

Complete picture wouldn't come up, only about the top inch. Will try again later. Is this a pull type or the one that mounted on the left side of the tractor? Dad had one that mounted on the tractor, a farmall H, but I'm quite sure it was a snapper not a picker. It didn't have a husking bed. He hired the corn picked so it wasn't used much. Have fun. Vern

Edit: Still won't come up. Went to photo bucket and got it.

The JD 100/101 pickers/snappers were popular around here. Would love to have a one row mounted IH picker on a Super C/200....

They sell ear corn around here for squirrel / bird food. They sell it by the bag for about twice as much as farmers get for a bushel of shelled corn. A guy could make some decent side money with a picker like that and some ambition.

Side money.......Cub money!!

I would get to plow more, plant more, cultivate more and not have to pick peas....that sounds like a plan to me!

Ad is a little old and the price a bit high but it does appear to be in good shape. Vern
