Another WW II Vet passes on

Postby Bezirk » Tue Apr 16, 2013 8:57 pm

Good evening friends:
This afternoon we received word from the nursing home that Mr. Elsworth Paris, my wife's father passed away. He took his after noon nap and never awakened. He was 96 years and 5 months old . His first job in the Army was a diesel instructor in Va. Fort Lee I believe, he then went to the Pacific, Phillipines, Australia and later in occupied Japan. Until a few years ago he had very vivid memories of the war and told many stories of his travels and adventures. His job along with two other men was to analyze captured Japanese war machines, photograph, disassemble and crate them and ship them back to the states for further scrutiny. He always told me he wouldn't have missed the war for anything, he had many wonderful experiences. He was mostly a self taught man, who was very adept at repairing machines. Please keep Paula and her siblings in your prayers, he will be sorely missed.

Thank You, Berlin
I started out with nothing and now I only have half of that left !

Sorry for the loss, there are about 800 WW II vets dying every day.Of course that will increase as time goes on. There are a little over 1,000,000 still living. In 2000 there were almost 6,000,000 living.

Berlin, Em and I send along our sincerest condolences to you, Paula and the family during this time of grief.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

This is the verse that we recite at the passing of a Veteran at our DMVA meetings. Veterans are never forgotten.

Thanks to all for your responses, Mr. Paris's stories are not all lost ,many of them are written. Family members had the foresight to record a lot of them.
