I'm requesting feedback from all of you before we take this plunge - Here is our idea. I welcome all feedback - positive and negative.
We'd like to have the new manifold, muffler and rain cap Chromed as part of our restoration. Do you hate it or applaud it as out attempt to mark our Cub forever?
All are welcome to respond.

I have no opinion one way or the other. Your tractor, your decision.
Parade tractor bling, then go ahead. Work tractor, why bother, won't make the tractor preform any better.

someone was making chrome exhaust pipes, not a muffler but a chrome pipe. I was thinking about getting one. Chrome manifold? No opinion one way or another.

I'm not sure that you can chrome the manifold because it is cast iron. Not certain about it either way. My only concern about the manifold being chromed is that it will likely turn colors because of the heat. It's often that you will see one that was painted red (like they were at the factory) and part of the red has burned off from the heat. I like to use POR-15 - Black Velvet hight temp paint on my manifolds, they really look nice:
Someone on here had a late 1950s Cub that had LOTS of polished stainless steel that looked really nice, but I cannot remember if the muffler or manifold was SS. I can't find the pictures of that Cub either. It would be nice to take a look at it though, as it was REALLY dressed up with shiny stuff.

Hate it. It wouldn't be a restoration if you did. I've seen a few on tractors and they remind me of punkmobiles.

Re: A Bit of Cub Flare for Serial #21005
Thanks all so far currently a split 50/50 yeah/ney.....Money talks and BS walks may lead to the final answer.....I'll discuss all your feedback with the 3rd generation owner of this Cub - History My Dad born 1919, me born 1957 and Tim the ultimate next Gen owner born in 1984.......I can tell you I'm leaning towards Por 15 - Red of intake and black for exhaust.

It will be a lot of money for a little bling. Money that could be spent more efficiently elsewhere.
But, if you have the cash, go for it, I would lean towards the por 15.
Just my $0.02, you can spend yours how you want.

Re: A Bit of Cub Flare for Serial #21005
Found it. Larry Malta's Stainless Cub:
He actually did have a stainless mainfold, but he fabricated it himself. I had forgotten about his setup, dual carbs and dual exhaust, 2 vertical and 2 horizontal. Pretty cool. Not sure how practical it is, but pretty cool!

Looks better than my old Harley...."Chrome don't get you home" (In this case stainless), but it sure looks purdy....My thoughts, if you want it go for it...Its your tractor....Dave

Re: A Bit of Cub Flare for Serial #21005
As the others said, your tractor, your decision, and I wouldn't think of faulting you whichever way you go.
However, since you asked for opinions, I think that a chrome or polished stainless vertical muffler or straight pipe would look sharp, but a chrome manifold would be overkill and just look wrong on a Cub. Again, just my opinion.
But whatever you decide, WE WANT PICTURES!!!

Re: A Bit of Cub Flare for Serial #21005
Wow, that's a lot of SS/Chrome. I do love the input of you all - especially the photos. I'm now hung between budget and a touch of flair for our Cub. Have no doubt this will be working tractor - not a show piece as we try and save our 1799 Farm from the encroachment of suburbia and the tax liabilities therein. Still if we take her to the http://www.thegasup.org/ - she'd sure be a pretty working machine and conversation piece with a touch of Chrome on board.
We're still debating - Watch for pictures.
