axle exstension question

hello from the deep south . i wanted to know what was the location of the grease fitting on a '48 . one is about three inches or so down from the weld , and my others are right at the weld . the '50 has the fittings about three or so inches down from the weld also . thanks , coppersmythe..........................................axel exstension, is this what is commonly called the "knee"?

Actually doesn't make any difference. My guess is that it's just how they set up the drill presses (gang drill presses) for that particular run.

On my 48 the zirk is 3/4 of an inch down from bottom of the weld to center of zirk.
