I recently covered my seat pan following those instructions. I used a silver vinyl material with a simulated fiber graphite embossing which I felt looked similar to the original silver canvas. I was going to use canvas, but my wife pointed out the problem with it getting wet and never drying out. I am pleased with results, except that I streached it a little tighter than I wanted and I hope that after some seat time, it will lay down a bit flatter. I have considered installing a grommet like the original. I have a couple, and a setting tool, but I have no idea where I purchased it. Possibly Harbor Freight, where they sell the tarps.

I have always wondered, and never asked, if the original pan seats had a grommet? I have a pan seat on a 1948 Farmall H that still had the black canvas attached when I got it. It had been covered for years with a seat cushion after the canvas had worn through at the very edge of the seat around the sides and back. It was still attached across the front. Interesting to me was that the black canvas didn't have a seam and there was no grommet, there is a hole in the pan. I think the aftermarket drawstring cushion has a grommet in it. Probably more to secure the stuffing than functional?????

Both of my seat pans still had the original grommets, even though the fabric was long gone (except for what remained crimped under the lip of the pan). I just went down and looked at my grommets, and now think that I purchased them at a sewing supply store, such as Jo Anns. The grommets are the same size as the originals - a nominal 1" OD, 3/8" ID.

As far as I know, the upholstered pan seats for a Cub always had a grommet. Other models that had a flip-up seat, or a support frame that angled an unoccupied seat, did not necessarily have a grommet.

Joe there has to be a sail maker somewhere within a few miles of you, see if they with sell ya the grommet. They could sell you the canvas, too.
