Engine Question

Postby LA Eric » Sat Mar 02, 2013 7:07 pm

A friend of mine has a Super A, serial # 3352xx. I checked the engine serial # and it has 49868 stamped on it. FAAM is not on it. To the left of this number, there is C 123 cast on the block. This engine also has an oil dipstick. Any idea what this engine was originally on?

Eric it could be off a combine or outta a C or a 140 you can make them fit with some tinkering and it is cheaper to buy a running engine that to rebuild your old one dont make sense does it?

After getting more info, I found out that the block has 366204R1 on it. From what I have read, this engine comes off a 130.

Hmm, the 100's and 130's had poor sheet metal. I've seen more than one 100 or 130 re-skinned with a Super C grille and Super A hood.

Do the date codes on the rest of the tractor indicate that it's a 1952 Super A (should be an X in the date code)?

Is there a 2" gap between the gas tank and the touch control?

I checked all the other date codes and they do have an X. No, there isn't a 2" gap between the gas tank and touch control.
