This is my Ferguson TO 30 I bought a new starter from Steiner's,
I had to move the distributor to get the starter on,
and now it will not start, I don't know if it jumped a tooth or not when the distributor came up to high, if so how can I tell and how do I get it back in the right place.

Re: Need help with my Ferguson TO-30
Same process used of Cubs.
Engine, #1 cylinder TDC. Mark base of distributor below #1 spark plug cap tower. Install distributor with rotor pointing to your mark with points just opening. Then static time engine.

Nice paint job on the fergie! Like the hand rails and bumper!
My FIL has a TO-30 and I'd love to see it in "tuxedo clothes".

Re: Need help with my Ferguson TO-30
Ignition still out of time. Some place.
First check to see that the spark plug wires go to the correct plug.
Cylinder #1 and typically #4 are at TDC when the mark on the pulley or flywheel lines up with the indicator. So could easily be 180 degrees out of time. If you are 180 degrees out of time the ignition fires on the exhaust stroke.
Distributor could be a tooth or two off.
Easy check. Timing light. See where the flash occurs in relationship to the timing marks. If close or dead on - 180 degrees out of time.
What is you bumper constructed from? I need to make one for my 154 Cub Low-boy.

Re: Need help with my Ferguson TO-30
If you have been trying to start it for awhile, the cylinders may be "washed down" leaving no oil for compression. Sometimes a teaspoonful of oil in each cylinder will bring the compression up enough to fire. Had a '76 olds do that to me once.
