Hello People,
I have recently purchased a 1952 Cub and i think I have a leak in my touch control unit i think its leaking into my engine oil. I have filled the unit up to the fill point but after a while i have to add more Hytran to the unit and my motor oil has taken on a milky color. If I do have a leak were would it be coming from and is it a fairly easy fix. This is my first tractor and Im new tho this so any help is great...

Re: leaking touch control??
That is a common problem. the seal or O-ring on the shaft of the pump lets it leak into the front of the crankcase. There are a couple of videos in the How to section on fixing it.

Re: leaking touch control??
From your description, it sounds pretty certainly that your hydraulic pump is leaking. When it leaks, the fluid ends up in the crankcase with your engine oil. I would say that an overhaul of the pump is needed.

Assuming that the leakage is at the shaft seal, then you would need to replace the O ring. Stock# HY396
touch control pump
drive shaft o-ring

Re: leaking touch control??
If the milky did not appear till he started losing TC fluid and gaining crankcase level, might it be contamination in the TC unit? I know when I changed my TC fluid for the first time after sitting up for over 25 years,(the tractor, not me) I drained out some curious jelly-like substance along with the fluid. Maybe this could cause the oil to appear milky.

HY288 is the one for the pump. some of the earlier ones had a seal rather than an o-ring., but a 52 probably has the o-ringfrankmarks wrote:thanks for the help when i order the kit which bone do i get?
