danco company

Postby ad356 » Tue Jan 01, 2013 9:13 pm

i just was wondering about danco? were they a separate company and are they still in business today? i was into green garden tractors at one point in my life and i think i remembered that they made a snowblower attachment for john deere i think it was to fit the 140/300 series. what ever happened to that company and were they a big company at one point? i have a danco C3 mower for my cub and it seems like everything they made was insanely heavy duty steel and it lasts nearly forever. i think my C3 is 10 gauge steel and even though it has a fair amount of rust it is still very sold and i dont think it would ever rust out. im going to sandblast it and repaint it.

I can still order some danco parts from my local dealer so either they are still in bussiness or some one else has their product

I have not been able to find any information on the Danco company, either old or even new. I have been searching for a very long time trying to find them as there are a number of manuals/brochures/parts catalogs I would love to have along with an up to date parts availability list. So far all of my searches have turned up nada except for a plumbing supply company of the same name

Danco along with Henderson, Twin-Draulic and a few others are real high on my want to find list :!:

The Danuser is still around. I think this is the same company, but haven't found any of the older stuff. I sent an email to them to see if they are the same company.

No Danuser of Fulton, MO is a different company. As far as I know it never had any connection to Danuser Machine Works of Oklahoma.

Rudi, that is Danuser Machine Company located in Fulton Mo. The Danco mowers were made by Danuser Machine Works in Oklahoma. I started researching Danuser back in the 90's when our Jeep club needed parts for our mower's that were on our (now my) Farmall 404s. I couldn't find much on them then. I had heard the two Danusers were supposedly brothers but I don't know how true that is. Everything I ever saw showed Hesston as a possible buyer of Danco and then selling parts of that off to Woods but the mower division may not have been part of that sale.. The mowers on my 404s are Woods but the PTO adapters and some other parts of the drive lines are Danuser.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Bill:

That kind of jibs with what I remember. After Jim posted and I commented, it dawned on me that we had been down this road before. It gets confusing with trying to find so many companies that are probably no longer in existence... and a shame it is too.

If indeed they are family, we may still get some useful information back from them. We shall see.

I thought Danco was the makers of the IH 3160 mowers!!---then IH bought them out?---Maybe not??
Another mower maker of a heavy duty cub single blade 42, was Jeralco (now defunct and was part of Puzy Bros of Fairmont, Il..
Puzy Bros were famous for power earcorn rakes to help empty cribs into sheller drags. not sure what else they made) thanks; sonny

Has anyone ever looked to see if Haban Corp. bought out Danco? I know that as-of the late 1990s/early 2000s, Haban was still building mower decks and snow blowers for Cub Cadet tractors. I don't know either companies histories, but just thought of it being a coincidence. I know the Haban built stuff is really nicely built. The 60-inch mower deck that they built for the Cub Cadet Super Garden Tractors is a beast, and was totally designed just to drive over it. All plate steel, diamond plate belt/pulley covers, and everything was beveled so that you could easily drive over it. They also made a 54" hydraulic angling snow blade for that same tractor, along with a large snow blower that was used on many of the CC Tractors.

According to the Haban Yahoo group, the assets of the company were bought by Agri-Fab and they don't support any Haban products.

William Walter “Dannie” Danuser (1910-2002) founded Danuser Machine Works. The company moved from Tulsa OK to Claremore OK in 1967. At some point, they became a subsidiary of Patterson Steel Company. Patterson Steel Company was bought by Anixter in 1969 and later sold in 1973 to Hesston Corp of Hesston KS because Anixter-Patterson was losing money. Hesston was sold to AGCO in 1991. I do not know if Danuser Machine Works was still a part of Hesston when it was sold to AGCO. Here is an article announcing the 1973 sale: http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1842&dat=19731007&id=ZAIsAAAAIBAJ&sjid=4cYEAAAAIBAJ&pg=3140,1342174 Don't you just love the internet!

I just got an email reply from Glen Danuser. His great uncle I presume (he says ancestor) broke apart Danuser into a number of subsidiaries prior to them being sold off to other companies. Danuser was one company at one point in time and now the current Danuser is the last remaining segment of the Danuser family businesses. I have asked him to see what might be in the company archives. Will see what comes out of the query.

I have also sent along a request to AGCO :D
