My son's Jeep refurb

Postby Jeff M » Fri Dec 28, 2012 1:18 pm

My son Ryan has spent the last year or so restoring....no, refurbishing a 1951 Jeep CJ3A. This Jeep was originally purchased by his great-grandfather who used it on his farm and then later when the farm became a subdivision, the Jeep was used to mow the private golf course, pulling a 3 gang mower. Last year the association grew tired of maintaining the Jeep and bought a new Kubota to haul the mowers. Ryan purchased the Jeep and has done a pretty nice job of renewing it (he doesn't like to use the term "restore"). I'm quite proud of him, as he never tackled a project like this before. If you have the time, desire, bandwidth, and enough oomph on your data package, here are 246 photos of the project.

Great documentation, That is a fine looking Willys. I keep saying I will finish my 47 someday, but I have a feeling it may not go far.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Jeff:

Ryan did an awesome job on that refurb  Talk about attention to detail, the whole process seemed to be a labour of love for him. Tell him he done real good and his Great GrandDad would be proud I am sure. So... maybe I get to see it next time I am down and around your way :?: Really enjoyed the pics :)

Nice restoration, great job. I love jeeps being an ex jeep mechanic from the 70's. Before that i was into big 4x4 chevy trucks. But there is nothing like a jeep when the road gets narrow. I would love to get a CJ3b willy's. (134f head). My family buddies had stories of being in washington state and going under the deep snow like a mole in a jeep out in the fields of course.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

Rudi, if you had the time to go through all the pics you'd see the 108 I used to own, about which I've posted here before.
