Canton TX Cubfest 2013OK, it isn't so much a Cubfest as it is a tractor show. But in 2012 we had a pretty good group of Cubs (27 or so) and a bunch of guys that I think had a good time. I have now got confirmed dates of April 5 and 6.
It will be part of the East Texas Tractor Show in Canton, on the grounds used by the huge First Monday Trade Days (not at the same time). Virtually all the displays are inside the pavilions. The only exceptions are some of the operating displays, steel wheel tractors and part of the flea market area. Canton is on I-20 about 60 miles east of Dallas and about 130 west of Shreveport, LA. If you want to take a look at the grounds, stick 32.566102, -95.860090 into google maps and click to the satellite view. The two buildings just south of the green arrow are where the 350 covered display spaces are. Some features of this event: - Space is essentially unlimited. - Somebody else is already taking care of parking, rest rooms, other basic facilities. - Food vendors on site reduces/eliminates need to plan most meals. - Lots of room for RVs (hookups available for a fee). - More than adequate motel availability. Unfortunately, we have some limitations: - No full shop available, for big projects. - There is no place available for plowing or other "earth turning" activities. - Anyone that doesn't bring an exhibit has to pay admission but the cost is pretty affordable. The dates are a Friday and Saturday. I don't know how early we can start to move in, but I will probably go down on Thursday for some set-up. I don't think we'll need to do much preparation. There should be space reserved for us.
Re: Canton TX Cubfest 2013Looking forward to it.
Re: Canton TX Cubfest 2013Jim,
I'm planning on bringing a trailer load of Cub implements to sell. Do I need to rent a space in advance or just show up? Gerry
Re: Canton TX Cubfest 2013You will be OK if you just show up.

Re: Canton TX Cubfest 2013This may be my very first Cubfest.....Hopefully everything works out....Looking forward to meeting you Mike and Harold also the many other Cub brethren, and seeing Jim again..... Very excited to have a Cubfest nearby.....Now just to talk my wife into it.....she is not into tractors like I am. But she is into shopping and finding bargains so I am going to try and sell her on the multitude of other items that I expect would be there.....wish me luck!

...And maybe a 3rd
Re: Canton TX Cubfest 2013Hope I can make it as well, was hoping to have the 4h resto project complete by then but don't think we will make it. Still have lots of body work to do on the sheet metal, finish rebuilding the final drives, and then putting her all back together and rewiring. Also want to rebuild the touch control. I believe it was leaking due to the grime on it when we disassembled the cub. Wondering if anyone at the cubfest will have the time, and if there will be an area to perform the work ,that would be willing to help me out please???
Re: Canton TX Cubfest 2013We won't have the kind of repair facility typical of many Cubfests. We can probably do a little light duty tinkering, but opening up anything major is probably out.
Re: Canton TX Cubfest 2013Thanks Jim, I was just curious
Re: Canton TX Cubfest 2013Pics and such would be nice. I ended up up missing the whole thing because I was sick......
Re: Canton TX Cubfest 2013The weather was beautiful, they say the crowd was down. Ran across Jim Becker, the only one I recognized, but me and Gary enjoyed looking at the cubs and all other displays, and wondering through the swap and sell items. lot of stuff there. Came back through Foreman and got to visit with tomcat and his FIL. Had a great time both days, but forgot the camera, so no pictures.
