New From SC
My name is Mark. Retired this year but have farmed most of my life growing up and part time for about 50 years now. I like the info and help you guys give to us new comers. I have a 1953 cub I have been using for about 4 years on about five acres of garden. This fall I decided to compleatly rebuild it from top to bottom. May have bought some parts from some of you fellows. Got it mostly back together. but I know I need some help seting the Gov. It runs good but when i try to give it throttle it speeds up and almost act like the engine locks up. I can restart and it idels fine. Few bugs to work out hope to make som friends. Thank

G'day to you Mark:
Did you lubricate all the connections etc., from the carb to the governor itself? Is anything binding or sticking? Suggest you spray some penetrating oil into all the joints/connections/linkage assemblies in the governor linkage. See dwg below:
to Farmallcub.com Forum Family. And you have come to the right place for all things Cub related. If you click on the Site Rules, Regulations, & Important Information, it will point you to the Welcome Wagon wherein you will find links to many useful sites and topics. One of which is the Cub Manual Server. Enjoy!.

Welcome!
I think the service manual is a good investment. There is a lot of useful information, especially each section has a 'theory of operation' that helps understand how it works. TM has them.

Mark,
I live in Simpsonville, maybe 40 miles from you? I would be happy to help diagnose the issue, and in fact, will be near you this coming Saturday evening, as I have to go to Rock Hill and pick up a Cub Express. If that doesn't work we might could find another time, just let me know.
