Re: The start of # 5 looks red to meIt may be that since the serial range involved was the end of the red Cub era and the yellow and white were getting ready to roll they just used up what red parts they had and put the white hoods on them. They might have figured there was no sense in painting a bunch of hoods. If nobody wanted the red and white combo the dealer could then paint the hood. There again, speculation since there is no documentation.
I don't believe in taking the bull by the horns. I took a goat by the horns once and that was enough excitement for me.

I don't think most manufactures would discuss with the public how they use up left over parts.

That sort of thing can happen. They could have had a car load or two on the receiving end of some strange shipping or storage incident that required replacement hoods or fuel tanks.

Boss, The 1964 Farmall Cub we had a few years ago was a 12V with S/N 2244XX J. ![]() Came from PA. Other than the fan shroud, the tractor was red down to bare metal. The hood was definitely white. Peter
