Hi all,
My Cub has been running great until recently. Lately it just cuts out while running. I have cleaned the carb and sediment bowl out several times lately. Gas tank seems to be clean on the inside. Yesterday I put some gas dryer int the gas tank thinking that might help. I cranked her up and she ran fine for a few minutes and suddenly just died. The carb started leaking gas from the bottom just then.
Can anyone suggest where I should begin?
thanks for your help,

Dave, have you cleaned the metering jet? If not, take it out and run a thin copper wire through it and flush it with a squirt of carb cleaner.

Clean the carb, you may need to put a kit in it and drain the tank and clean the fuel bowl, make sure that the wire screen in the bowl is in good condition Boss

one of mine did the very same thing and it turned out the cork gasket between the 2 halves was just crumbling and clogged it up ...it took me awile to see it and as u i just kept cleaning out jet and it ran fine again for awhile....may not be your problem but a good place to look

Hi Dave, Whilst you were cleaning the sediment bowl you may have disturbed the gasket. The gasket has a particular place to sit, which allows fuel down into the bowl. Now your bowl will remain full but there is not enough petrol getting through to keep the tractor alive after it has burned what was in the carb. I would check if there is a constant supply of petrol getting down to the carb. Donegal Cub.

Dave:
The Cub has been setting a while. Gas may have some varnish flakes in it. Re-check the metering jet - both orifices as already advised. If problem persists - check the needle and cage assembly - hold the cage up to natural light - you may see the orifice but it will probably be opaque, if so, then you have varnish in the cage. Clean, re-install and recheck. I have found this more than once... especially when the Cubs have set for a couple months. Also, check in the bowl to see if there is a whitish powdery buildup. This would be oxidation of the pot metal and that also could be plugging either the jet or the cage.
