Sorry to hear you ran into some problems getting the lip open. I don't know if the sheet metal used on the later Cubs (a '75, like yours) and the earlier Cubs (a '47, like mine) were different gauges or not.

All I used was what you were using; or similar. Bascially, anything that I could use as a tool to pry the lip open. Don't know if I'd use heat or not.

forgot to mention the vice grips wont work to open the lip, just to close it up.
