Postby billy clay » Sun Nov 11, 2012 10:12 am

real nice original tractor, was traded in at local dealer they put new tires on and did a tune up. It had a fasthitch on it but was converted to a 3 point so some fasthitch parts are missing not sure if I want to leave it the way it is or put fasthitch back on. Will get pics later

Check availability of fast hitch implements for the 140 in your area, that may be the deciding factor. That is assuming you intend to keep it rather than reselling it.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

Congrats on the 140 Billy. I often wish I had one, but am too heavily invested in Cubs (and I am a hoarder that hates selling things  )

Billy,

Check the eastern NC and Raleigh Craigslist on the disk. I don't go there every day, but last time I did (Over the weekend) I saw several fast hitch disks. IIRC they were mostly King, but that brand was more popular than IH around these parts.

The later model IH Fast Hitch Disks are really nice if you can find them. AL got a set from me that should be around the same vintage as your 140 (would have been offered with it). I believe those discs were offered up until 1971 or so. The disks offered after that until 1979 were really nice too! They are really heavy duty and can be unbolted and used as a bush-n-bog disk. I still have a nice set if you're ever around Alabama. I've attached pictures with descriptions of the various disk harrows IH offered (the ones I'm aware of) for the 1 point hitch. I can't recall the model numbers off hand.....but I believe the newest model was something like a 210 or 216 or something like that.

My disk is a 120. My dad bought a new 120, a 7' model, with his new 424 in 1967. Haven't had a chance to use my Fast Hitch version, but his disk has been excellent. It was sort of unusual in these parts for him to have a "name brand" disk, most people bought King disks because they were cheaper. They weren't bad but the IH was better.

I have an IH parts book that covers these disks. Disk Harrow "B" looks like a 120. IH also made a 60 from '63-66, it looks just like the 120. The 120 was made from from '66-68. Disk harrow "C" is a 122. It came out in '69 and I think was in production until at least '79. It is like the 60 and 120 except it has an angle iron frame.
