That is a rare SA if it runs well and and everything works buy it !!!!!!!
I would like to see a pic of the whole tractor Not just parts. Check behind the carb for a freeze crack in the engine , or a repair there. That is the week point also how much play is in the steering? and how much movement on the right brake pedal from side to side.

Re: starting to lean towards a Super A
Boss,
Great tips! Thanks. There is some play in the steering. Not more than I've seen on many cubs. I'm assuming the steering gear on a super A is not much different than a cub's. I'll check the rest tonight.

Re: starting to lean towards a Super A
The biggies are the steering and does the left rear wheel wobble in the housing....take hold of the top of the tire and rock it side to side---that is left to right if you were standing behind the tractor---and see if it will move. You can see it and probably hear it. There will be most likely some movement. Even if there is a lot don't panic, It's fixable but you have to tear down the left final to do it.
From what I can tell you are looking something you can work with, so a basket case won't be what you need. But if this tractor is really what it appears to be, it's worth snagging even if it will barely run under its own power!

Re: starting to lean towards a Super A
I agree, even if it does need a little work it's worth buying simply based on the fact that it appears to be a Super A1.
That's A1 (eh-one), the farm tractor built for a short time before 100's were released, not AI (eh-eye), the Industrial version, by the way. Even more rare would be an A1I (eh-one-eye)

Boss and those NC tractors The man knows what he's talking about though! Looks like a very decent tractor. I'd buy a battery and throw in it and if she runs good put $2500 in his hand.
