IH Dealer Memorabilia??

Postby AL Farmall Boy » Tue Aug 28, 2012 12:45 am

Would anyone happen to know the story on these little buttons? They were found at a gentlemans place that used to be the manager of an IH Dealership. I found them sitting in an old IH Refridgerator in a barn on top of several Parts Manuals. From a quick search, I see that this was a line of long lasting parts IH patented. There was also a belt buckle made to advertise the "Earth Metal" parts. I wonder what year these buttons would be from? More info about the buttons and the line in general would be nice too.

IIRC Earth Metal came out in the '70s. It was IH's brand of steel used for disk blades, plow parts, cultivator shovels, etc. It was supposed to be a longer-wearing type of steel. I think caseIH still uses the name.

If I am not mistaken Ken Updike had an article on Earth Metal in one of last years Red Power - had to do with IH's revolutionary tillage system.

I really need to subscribe to Red Power!! I wonder what a lifetime membership would be?? Yeah, from the research I've done (not much), I have found what you said AL. I think I'm going to keep the buttons in the original packaging for now and not open them. I also picked up a Cub (Lincoln #??? (can't remember the number)) Grease Gun, and a huge stack of manuals ( I will share with you soon Rudi for the archives). I am planning on trying to locate a glass display case (like at a jewelry store) to display them all in my new shop office.
