New guy,New to me 184,mows to high

Postby Dsc1 » Tue Jul 24, 2012 10:56 pm

Hay everyone, glad to be here.I finally got a 184 after to long and found I hope to be a good one.It came with a woods 59 deck so I'll be looking for a 3 point and front blade eventually. It runs very good and mows great with only one complaint. Did Woods make a blade that would get any lower than the 1 1/2 ? I blew up my 1977 wheel horse witch gave me a good excuse to get the Lo-Boy and was mowing about an inch.I do have to say it mows great. Thanks all. Dan

Hi Dan, Welcome to the Forum! You'll find a lot of Cub lovers here. I'm not real familiar with the Woods mowers but here is a link to Woods manuals that may help you find your mower and check for adjustments: http://www.cleancomputes.com/Cub/OEM%20 ... index.html Others will probably post more tomorrow.

Seems to me that with a 59" deck, you wouldn't want to mow that short, you will certainly be scalping in spots. I have always mowed at 3" and see no reason that I would need to mow any shorter.

Thanks. Bob,It looks like a l59 c1. I have it down so the rub bars are just off the ground and it does great without any scalping so I am looking to get it lower,if it starts chewing things up I can adjust from there. The wife likes the gulf course look.

Depends on what kind of grass you have but 1" is too short for most.

Thanks guys, Luck for me the gent. I got this tractor from had the parts and owners manuels in a binder wich he gave me.Wish I had these with the BN I bought a dozen years ago.Jim, I do understand what your saying but as hard as I try I can't burn my grass out.My yard is 250ft off the road in the woods and it grows all summer, for the most part about 3inches a week with little rain,it's a drag.Im mowing about an acre and a half but adding about another half after some clearing and wide walk trails and an acre of field/food plot.
