spark plugs

Postby Harleyhyde » Wed Jun 27, 2012 5:50 pm

Hi, I have a Farmall Super A. I'm not sure if other people have had a similar problem or not. It had Autolite 3116 plugs in it when i got it. My problem is that there is no shoulder sticking out on the hex part to get a socket on for removal. The other sites I have been on suggest that this is the proper plug. Has anyone else encountered similar removal dificulties and is there some trick to getting them out? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I just went out in the garage and a 7/8 deep well fits on every plug, no problem.

I think there must be some difference in the castings. I cannot use a 7/8 socket on my SuperA with anything but Champion plugs. They stick out more than others. I finally found a NOS IH plug wrench as supplied with the tractor and it works with all brands. It is real thin like one that comes with a chain saw and has a rod you put through one end for a handle. Glad I can run other plugs now.
