Vinegar In A Stuck Motor???
Seems the motor on Miss B Farmall is stuck...#3 and #4. I removed the cylinder head and took it to my favorite machinist so he give some attention to a few (3) stuck valves. I told him about the stuck motor and he replied, "Did you pour vinegar in it?" Of course, my answer was no...I have never heard of this. Has anyone else and was there success

I always heard it is good for cleaning up a corroded battery terminal in an emergency, but never tried it myself.Matt Kirsch wrote:The one I heard many years ago: Coca cola.

Another home remendy I heard of is brake fluid. The only engine I know of which was done this way (61 Olds 394cid) had set up from overheating not rust. Engine ran for several years after. Vern

Re: Vinegar In A Stuck Motor???
I tried the vinegar trick on a severly stuck Farmall H engine. The vinegar did have some effect, but that engine was bad enough that nothing else worked either. I ended up breaking those pistons to remove them, and I could see where the vinegar had started to work. Maybe if I had left it soaking for another year or two, the vinegar MIGHT have been successful.
Vinegar is cheap enough. Get a jug or two and see what happens.

I use Hy-tran and let it sit on top of the piston to leak down. Takes a few days.
