Well ....I'm trying again after last year....Got 12 so far,,,6 more I hope friday.I guess last year was a learning year,,,,this year I hope to be better...Nice to listen to the peeps chirpping in the basement!!! :shock: :shock: :{_}: :{_}: Kevin

Well going with 18 for a start this year...Had them outside yesterday for 6 hours...That wore them out!!! Brought them in and went out like light blubs...Great weather,,,,WOW!!!! Pinched myself,,,it is only mid March!!!!Kevin :shock: :shock:

Sounds like you are doing pretty good for your age, I never tried to pick up more than a couple chics at a time, even in my prime. Of course now, I am not sure what I would do with them. :||):

Well,,,the chicks are I'd say chickens now.All 18 made it so far.Outside in the coop,going for fencing today.Been in the coop for a week now.Can't wait for the eggs!!!!! :shock: :shock: :shock: Kevin

Down to 15.......One of my pullets turned out to be a rooster.He got big and mean.A fox came by the other night and took him out.He was sleeping on my buzz saw.He was real mean to the hens so he got kicked out of the coop.The other 2 got whacked by coons.I've shot close to 30 coons in a year now......think I have to many????? :? :? :? Kevin ps ,,waiting for eggs,,,getting close!!!!

Well my chickens are starting to lay eggs!!! Got 4 when I got home from work.Time for them to earn their keep.Small eggs,but they start off that way from what I hear.I miss last years flock,,they were a great bunch.This years flock is kicking butt!!! :{_}: :{_}: :{_}: :{_}: :{_}: PS ,I have a couple of watch chickens that let me know if they hear or see movement after dark,wacking coons is getting to easy.They don't come around anymore,,so much for target pratice!!! Well had 15 going into the winter,,,15 coming out of the winter...Tough birds!!!! No heat lamp or anything..It was a pain to keep water unfrozen though...Worse egg laying got to about 6 a day...Back up to 10to 12 a day again...One year and doing great!!! Kevin
