DSCF 2012

Well we came up I-75 to avoid the I 65 construction. We stopped in Norris Tennessee for the night. Traffic advisories were saying both northbound lanes of I 75 were blocked about 50 miles north of Knoxville. So we figured it was a good time to stop. It was snowing when we pulled off so I guess tomorrow morning might be interesting!

The Spiveys and Kodiak were home safe about 2:30 this afternoon, after a short stop in Gillsville and 2 slowdowns on I-85. What was it with the interstate's this weekend? Only misty rain for us to drive through, no snow or any other weather surprise. Thanks for a great DSCF, we are already counting the days until next years event.

Well, I ALMOST made it all the way to Chapel Hill (about 2 hours out), after leaving around 6am, but as it was getting dark, the snow started and I hit a construction zone...visibility went way down, so I got a motel room and will ease on in tomorrow morning. Good thing I am retired and thus have no real schedule! Thanks again everyone and see you next year, if not sooner at another Cubfest!

I am so sorry that I failed to mention Raymond Durbin in my earlier post. Just blame it on my "old person" memory. I actually spent more time hanging around him than the other hosts.

What a great fine young man. Not to mention that I am so impressed with his complete knowledge of cubs, but on top of that, he is a super friendly, helpful and decent young man. Good luck to you, Raymond.

I only played a small role getting to play in the shop with other peoples tractors! The real work was taken care of by Roy, BillyRay, Tim and Jim. I really had a great weekend, and it was great to see everybody again. Glad everyone had a good weekend and appreciate their time to make the trip and for their part for what DSCF has turned into!!
Looking forward to seeing everybody again next year!!

Well, I didn't want my original post to be too long, so I'm just going to add to this thread.

A guy could not have better co-host than Billy Ray, Raymond, Jim and Tim. What a wonderful group of guys and great helpers. And Thanks to their families for supporting them and us. You guys are the best!!

As all of you that have your own CubFest know, the work at the event is just a small part of it. These guys have been helping us for several weeks to plan this event and make it happen. And they will be back next week to do more work.

And my good buddy Raymond spent most of the day with me today, cleaning up and, yes, working on a tractor. He had lunch with me and Ms. E and we had a wonderful visit. See you soon, pal.

We can hardly wait till next year to see all of you again and share some more good Southern hospitality with you.

We made it home at 1300 today; easy drive except for the mist. As usual, Sam complained the whole time about not having enough to eat; then raved about how awesome the weekend was when he got home.

Thanks to the great hosts and families for putting on the event as well as everyone who helped out with our project. We got a ton done on that old thing!

My thanks to Mr. E for hosting and Barnyard for going to all the time and trouble to allow a few of us to really enjoy the DSCF in the comfort of our homes. While true we missed out -- and missed out on meeting everyone in person and missed out on Mikes special cooking, you guys did make us especially feel welcome and we appreciate it. Many thanks. It could have only been more fun by actually being there!

I really hit the rain about an hour after I headed west on I-10. It was really raining for about 1/2 hour. Then there was off and on drizzle the rest of the way to Mobile. Today was pretty uneventful and I got in here a little after 7 PM.

I really enjoyed the event. Thanks not only to the organizers but to everyone that contributed. I know there were some in attendance that I didn't get a chance to talk with, some that I did were pretty brief conversations.

Bill we forgot to tell you when I was driving like I told you on the phone we were gaining on you. Well the speedometer would not go pass 69 MPH. Then it started going south. I told larry to get the Garmin where it shows how fast we are going. Well its a wander I didnt get a ticket thats why we were gaining on you. Well the speedo took a crap like mine did. GM & other car company's have had problems. We made it home safe.

Thank you, Roy and all, for the great time. The food and hospitality were wonderful and the warm weather sure beat what is up here in Ohio.

Candy and I got in last evening to 28 degrees. It was 18 degrees this morning. We drove 200 miles up toward I-65 on Rt. 231 in very hard rain and wind on Saturday evening. That wasn't a good road in that weather. Lots of hydroplaning through there. After we got to I-65 we stopped for the night and finished yesterday. The I-65 detour was a non-event. About 10 miles off then back on. Probably cost us 20 minutes. From what I've read and Darrell's report I'm glad we didn't go I-75. Saw a little snow in the grass in Tennessee and then it cleared up for the rest of the way home. I think we just skirted the east edge of the snow and ice.

Thank you Mr E for hosting such a wonderful fest. I also want to thank the other folks who helped put this event together and made it so enjoyable. I was finally able to meet most of the guys who have been so very helpful to me since I've joined the forum. It was really great meeting all of y'all! And the food? I like to have hurt myself! Haha

My turn to add a thanks to all the hosts, especially Roy and Mary for all the hard work they put in before and after the Cubfest. I think I had my share of peanuts, although I could have eaten more if the meals hadn't been so good. Tallahasse didn't want me to leave, my flight was changed and instead of arriving in Denver at 2:50 PM, I didn't make it in until 8:20 PM. Had a blast as usual and am looking forward to the next one (both this year and the next DSCF). I'm glad that those of you who were driving didn't have any worse problems.

A big thank you to Mr E And Ms Mary and the rest of the co sponsers. We had a wounderfull time and have reservations for next year. I had fun cooking and teaching Cinday Gray how to cook in a Dutch oven. Michelle and I had a great time.
