Home Metal Casting

Got a project that you are working on that is not a tractor? Maybe a barn to hold your tractors or just fun stuff like woodworking, glass, tools, sheds, gardens, custom implements, etc., this is the place to talk about it.

My understanding is that you will have to make your own pattern a bit over size for there is about 8% shrinkage as the casting solidify s and cools. This means that to get the same weight you can't use an original. This shrinkage will probably affect the mounting hole spacing too. If doing it for yourself a little trial and error will get er done.

We need an original to make a pattern from and go from there. A Clay mold of the original to make a new oversize pattern with a pantograph like they do with coins?
